Edited by: Miriam Letisse on 05/10/2010 18:53:45 There's a much needed update near the end of October that will be adding some more stuff, updates have been somewhat lacking recently since the guy (Notch) has been busy setting up the business.
As for what Zymurgist said, the 16-bit ACU and other such things are useless to most people unless you have an interest in that sort of thing. The way it works seems unwieldy and limited, taking up massive space for even simple systems, and as such has no real use to the mining and building aspect of the game. For now at least.
Otherwise it's fun and a little bit addictive.

Quote: -Demo is close to fully featured, and has no time limit
Actually the demo is much more limited than the "full" version, there's no crafting or even inventory for instance.
Quote: -Crappy graphics
Well that's subjective isn't it, I mean they're great compared to some games
Quote: -Very little marketing/advertising - if any at all
And yet somehow the guy who made it has already amassed $3,000,000 from it
Quote: -Basic gameplay - you place blocks and remove them
True, like I said there is a bit of crafting and as mentioned earlier, red stone.
Quote: -Limited content - only a handful of blocks and monsters
Again, true, but it is a beta and the maps are virtually infinite in size. Each world can be up to 8 times the surface area of the Earth though, so there is a limit but it would probably take your entire life to explore it.
Quote: The game lives purely off of it's core gameplay mechanics. It just goes to show that the thing that gamers really want is innovative and solid gameplay. Not flashy graphics and huge budgets.
So true.

Originally by: Professor Tarantula I enjoyed it for a few days, but unless you're really keen on making pixel art sculptures you'll run out of things to do. Looking forward to seeing what is added down the road.
People make pixel art in survival mode?!
Poor buggers, they must hate their fingers.

Sure, Why not?
It's not like survival mode is difficult.
Certainly not, but pixel art in minecraft is usually huge and gathering all the blocks must be worse than PI..

Originally by: So Sensational and while I've seen torches used in the videos I have no clue how to find them.
Torches are made through either the workbench or inventory crafting table by combining sticks (made from lumber/planks) with coal.
Information here.
